Two families have been relieved of loan burdens after Guardian Life Insurance Limited settled outstanding amounts under its life insurance coverage for loan beneficiaries, in collaboration with Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB).
Under the arrangement, members who take loans from FIVDB are automatically covered by life insurance. If a borrower dies before repaying the loan, Guardian Life settles the remaining amount, reads a press release.

Recently, two FIVDB borrowers, Anjue Nayek and Jafura Begum took loans of Tk70,000 and Tk60,000 respectively.
Anjue Nayek died on 6 February 2026 due to severe fever, while Jafura Begum died on 8 February 2026 following a heart attack, before repaying their loans.
In this context, a claim settlement ceremony was held on 1 April 2026 at the FIVDB headquarters in Kollagram, Khadimnagar, Sylhet.
During the event, Guardian Life formally settled the full outstanding loan amounts in the presence of the families of the deceased borrowers.
Representing Guardian Life were Fasihul Mostofa, senior vice president and head of product and EPMO; Md Naushadul Karim Chowdhury, vice president, Micro, Digital Channel and ADC; Rafayet Sikder Razot, vice president, Marketing and Communications; Detepriya Roy Chowdhury, senior assistant vice president, Marketing and Communications; and Asif Bin Mujib, senior assistant vice president, Micro, Digital Channel and ADC, along with other senior officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, Detepriya said, “Every insurance policy is very valuable to us. What the families have lost can never truly be replaced. Guardian Life remains committed to standing beside people by ensuring such financial protection.”
