Two brothers were killed and two others injured after being electrocuted while working in a field in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Abdullah Moazzin and his brother Abdul Aziz of Mirzapur village.
According to local sources, a group of farmers was working in a haor field adjacent to the village when the two brothers accidentally came into contact with a live electric wire. They died on the spot.
While attempting to rescue them, two other farmers also suffered severe electric shocks. The injured were later taken to Habiganj District Sadar Modern Hospital for treatment.
Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam confirmed the incident, saying the deaths occurred due to electrocution while working in the haor area.
He added that the injured are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
