Police arrested two suspected drug traders with 4,000 yaba tablets during a drive in the capital’s Shyampur area on Sunday afternoon.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Furkan and Imran Shahriar.

A police team conducted the operation in Dholairpar Golchattar area under Shyampur Police Station and recovered two mobile phones from their possession.

The duo was made accused in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Shyampur Police Station.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted to being members of a professional drug trafficking syndicate, police said.

They confessed to collecting narcotics from different parts of the country and selling them in various areas of the capital, including Shyampur.

Police records show Furkan has seven pending narcotics cases at different police stations across the country, while Shahriar has one case against him.
