After a 10-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, import-export activities at Satkhira’s Bhomra Land Port resumed on Saturday, bringing back bustle among port users.
From 18 to 27 March, all operations at the port had been suspended for Eid, though passport holders continued to travel during that period.
Abu Musha, general secretary of the Bhomra Land Port C&F Association, said the suspension was decided jointly with India’s Ghojadanga C&F Agent Cargo Welfare Association. He added that trade between Bangladesh and India has now returned to normal.

Rasheduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Bhomra Immigration Police, said only passport holders were able to cross the border as usual during the holiday.
Mamun Kabir Torofdar, deputy director of the port authority, also confirmed the development.
Customs Commissioner Mushfiqur Rahman noted that the port plays a vital role in trade between Bangladesh and India, with an average of 200 to 250 trucks carrying goods passing through daily.
