The arrestees have been identified as Md Mehedi Hasan alias Joy, Sanjim Hasan, and Md Amit Hasan.

They were apprehended during a special drive conducted by Mirpur Model Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Thursday.

According to police, the arrestees are the sons of Amir Hossain and Nasima Begum.

Their mother, Nasima Begum, is the elder sister of the three crime bosses.

The permanent address of the arrestees is in the Namagenda area of Savar, Dhaka, while their present residence is in Kalsi area under Pallabi Police Station.

Police alleged that Joy was actively involved in extorting money, controlling the jhut business, seizing plots and flats, controlling footpaths, and directing teenage gangs on behalf of fugitive top terrorist Mamun.

Joy was also linked to various financial transactions, and preliminary police findings indicate that the extortion money collected through him was remitted to Mamun, Mashiur, and Jamil, who are currently absconding abroad.

Meanwhile, Sanjim faces allegations of running teenage gangs using the syndicate’s clout and exerting influence in Ward No. 91 of the Dhaka South City Corporation.

Police noted that during interrogation, information was obtained regarding regular communication between the arrestees and the fugitive ringleaders, including contact maintained via mobile phones.

The drives and operations are continuing to curb crime, prevent terrorist activities, and ensure public safety.
