Railway authorities temporarily suspended three railway staff for allegedly allowing passengers to travel without tickets in exchange for money.
The suspension was ordered on Saturday by the chief commercial manager (east) of Bangladesh Railway Md Mahbubur Rahman following an internal investigation.
The allegations relate to the 704 Mahanagar Prabhat Express travelling from Dhaka to Chattogram on 18 January. The staff involved include Steward 1 Md Arif, Steward Manager 2 Md Juel Rana, and Conductor Guard Md Mostafizur Rahman Limon, from Dhaka Headquarters.
According to social media complaints, the trio allegedly facilitated illegal travel for certain passengers in exchange for cash. Preliminary investigations confirmed the validity of the claim.
According to railway authorities, the staff have been suspended pending further investigation. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
