Chattogram city turned vibrant with the recitation of Hamd, Naat, Takbeer, Darood Sharif and Zikr early Wednesday as thousands of people gathered for the traditional Jasne Julus marking Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
People of different ages from the city and surrounding areas started heading towards Sholashahar before dawn. As the morning progressed, a large crowd gathered in the area, and the 55th Jashne Julus began after the gathering swelled to a massive scale.
The procession started at 9:30am from the premises of Jamea Ahmadia Sunnia Kamil Madrasah in Sholashahar, with people from different parts of Chattogram city and district joining the colourful event.
According to organisers, Allama Syed Muhammad Tayyab Shah Rahmatullahi Alayhi (R) introduced the Jashne Julus in Chattogram in 1974. Since then, the event has been organised every year on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal under the management of Anjuman-E- Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust.

This year’s procession is being led by Syed Muhammad Saber Shah, while Shahzada Syed Muhammad Qasim Shah and Syed Muhammad Qasem Shah are attending as guests.
To participate in the Julus, people began gathering at the Jamea Ahmadia Sunnia Alia Madrasah field from early morning, arriving on foot as well as on trucks and pickup vans. The area was filled with a religious atmosphere, with volunteers distributing drinking water, sherbet and dry food at different points along the route.
The procession route was decorated with flags, banners and festoons.
The scale of this year’s Julus has been expanded. Last year, the procession returned through the same route after passing Sholashahar, Muradpur, Gate No 2 and GEC intersection. This year, it will proceed along the same route before returning from Tigerpass.
Manzur Alam, senior vice-president of Anjuman-e-Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust, said the route was extended this year considering the large turnout of devotees.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police has taken extensive security measures around the event. Additional police have been deployed along the procession route and nearby areas, while the presence of detective police and other law enforcement agencies has also been increased.
Police have issued instructions to use alternative roads to maintain normal traffic movement. Vehicular movement on the flyover from Muradpur to Lalkhan Bazar has been suspended during the procession.
With religious devotion and spontaneous participation, Chattogram turned into a major gathering place for Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations on Wednesday morning. The traditional procession once again highlighted the city’s long-standing religious heritage surrounding the occasion.
