Two people were killed and four others injured in a three-vehicle collision involving a pickup van, an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in Thakurgaon on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place in the Post Office area of Bhulli upazila, said Bhulli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Alam Siddique.
One of the deceased was identified as Anwara, 60, wife of Shahjahan Ali of Bara Balia area. The identity of the other deceased man could not be known immediately.
The injured were identified as Zarina, 40, of Bara Balia area, Shahirul, son of Afizul of Laxmirhat area, Harun, son of Idris Ali, and Shafiqul.
According to police, an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers was heading towards Thakurgaon in the morning when a pickup van coming from the opposite direction hit a motorcycle first in the Post Office area of Bhulli.
The pickup later lost control and crashed head-on into the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.
Two passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, while four others sustained serious injuries.
Police reached the scene after being informed and, with help from locals, rescued the injured and sent them to Thakurgaon 250-bed General Hospital.
Police said legal procedures following the accident are underway.
