Students of Tejgaon College on Wednesday blocked Indira Road in Dhaka, demanding justice for a fellow student.
Traffic movement on the road came to a halt following the blockade.
The students started their demonstration around 11:35am, taking position at the down-ramp of the Elevated Expressway in the Farmgate area.
Due to the blockade, vehicles coming through Indira Road were diverted towards Bijoy Sarani. Authorities of the Elevated Expressway were also requested to keep the Indira Road ramp temporarily closed.
The protesters said they boycotted ongoing examinations, locked the college gates, and joined a procession demanding justice.
On 6 December last year, a clash broke out between two groups at the Tejgaon College dormitory. During the incident, Sakibul Hasan Rana, 18, a higher secondary student of the college, was seriously injured. Four days later, on 10 December, he died while undergoing treatment.
