The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were published on Monday morning, revealing an average national pass rate of 62.25 per cent.
However, Technical Education Board has suffered a severe slump, with its pass rate plummeting to 58.20 per cent.
A comparison with last year’s results highlights a stark reversal of fortunes for Technical board, which had previously outperformed the national average.
In 2025, the overall average pass rate across all boards stood at 68.45 per cent, whereas Technical board celebrated a pass rate of 73.63 per cent.
This year, the Technical board’s pass rate declined by 15.43 percentage points. Having secured a position among the top three education boards in the 2025 examinations, the Technical board has now plummeted to second from the bottom.
The number of students achieving the highest grade of GPA-5 under Technical board has also experienced a major drop. Only 3,951 students secured GPA-5 this year, compared to 4,948 last year.
