What began as a college band experiment in 1998 has grown into a 25-year musical journey for Tahsan Khan. Two years after forming an alternative rock group with friends, Tahsan stepped onto the professional stage with his band ‘Black’, marking the true start of his career. A quarter of a century later, he is celebrating his silver jubilee with a concert across Australia.
The tour kicks off in Adelaide on September 6, followed by stops in Brisbane (September 7), Sydney (September 13), Melbourne (September 20) and Perth (September 23). Tickets are already on sale, with fans eager to witness a milestone chapter in his career.
Though Tahsan rose to fame with Black, his path quickly shifted. In 2004 he parted ways with the band to pursue a solo career; a decision that led to some of his most celebrated works. Albums such as ‘Kathopokothon’, ‘Kritodasher Nirban’ and ‘Ichche’ cemented his place as one of Bangladesh’s most popular singer-songwriters.
Over the years, he has released seven solo albums and countless mixed tracks, with both Black and as a solo artist. Hits such as ‘Amar Prithibi’, ‘Ekhono’, ‘Irsha’, ‘Alo’, ‘Prem Tumi’, ‘Prematal’, ‘Hothat Eshechhile’ and ‘Ke Tumi’ are some of his most notable creations.
Beyond his solo work, Tahsan has performed with ensembles including ‘Tahsan and the Sufis’ and more recently ‘Tahsan and the Band’, with whom he continues to tour both locally and internationally.
His artistry, however, extends beyond music. Tahsan has made a name for himself on screen as well, starring in dramas, web series and films. While he has appeared less frequently in recent years, he made a notable comeback with the web series ‘Baaji’ last year and also hosted the inaugural season of ‘Family Feud Bangladesh’, which wrapped earlier this year.
Now, as Tahsan embarks on his Australian tour, the milestone reflects not just longevity, but a career defined by reinvention, versatility and enduring connection with fans.
