After a 45-day break combining weekly holidays and recess, the country’s apex court is set to resume regular judicial activities on Sunday.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has already reconstituted 66 benches with specific judicial jurisdictions to conduct the Supreme Court’s proceedings.
The Supreme Court went into recess on 7 September. During the vacation, the chief justice had formed several benches with defined jurisdictions to hear and dispose of urgent cases in the High Court Division. Those vacation benches heard and delivered orders on various cases.
In addition, Justice Farah Mahbub was nominated by the chief justice to preside over hearings in the Appellate Division during the recess period.
