Students from seven colleges have blocked three key points in Dhaka, demanding the issuance of a final ordinance to establish the proposed Dhaka Central University.
The locations are Science Lab, Technical, and Tatibazar intersections.
The seven colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Girls’ College, Government Titumir College, Kabi Nazrul Govt College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, and Government Bangla College.
They began the programme on Wednesday morning.

It stated that the draft of the “Dhaka Central University Act 2025” was published on the website of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education on 24 September.
After the draft was published, various discussions and debates for and against it began, prompting the Ministry of Education to organise multiple consultation meetings with all relevant stakeholders.
The students claim that based on the feedback received after discussions with stakeholders, the Ministry of Education has updated the draft. Most recently, during a continuous sit-in programme towards the Shikkha Bhaban on 7 and 8 December, a meeting was held between the students and the Ministry of Education.
In the meeting, they were assured that the activities will be completed by December and the ordinance would be issued in early January.
It further said, “We have learned that a meeting of the interim government’s advisory council is likely to be held on Thursday.
“The students expect that the updated draft of the Dhaka Central University Act be approved in that meeting and the final ordinance be issued on behalf of the President simultaneously,” the release added.
