At least 25 people have been bitten by a stray dog in Muksudpur municipality over the past three days, health officials said.
The incidents occurred between June 15 and 17 in different areas, including Komlapur, Chandibardi and Tengrakhola.
All injured victims received treatment and anti-rabies vaccinations at the Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex.
Locals said a suspected rabid dog has been roaming various parts of the municipality, attacking pedestrians without warning. Several school students and passers-by have reportedly suffered deep injuries, triggering panic among residents.
“There is a rabid dog roaming around key areas of the municipality. It is attacking anyone it encounters,” said Mir Habibullah, a resident of the Chandibardi area.
He added that fear has spread across the locality due to repeated attacks.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Raihan Islam Shovon said 25 people had been treated for dog bites over the past three days and were administered anti-rabies vaccines.
He urged residents to remain cautious and avoid contact with stray dogs.
