A cultural concert featuring leading Bangladeshi musicians and film stars will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 24 May for expatriate Bangladeshis, organisers said, as the Eid-themed event aims to bring together performers and audiences in Malaysia for a five-hour celebration of music and entertainment.
The programme, titled ‘Sonali Shondha’, will be held at Minara PGRM Tower 2 in the Malaysian capital from 5 pm to 10 pm. The event is being organised by NS Unique Global Sdn Bhd under the banner “MS Gold Presents Sonali Shondha, Powered by Sonali Jewels”.
Organisers said the show will include live music, dance performances, visual presentations, DJ sets, light shows and interactive segments designed to create a festival-like atmosphere for Bangladeshi expatriates.
The concert will feature performances by singers and composers Pritom Hasan, Xefer and Protic Hasan. Film actresses Puja Cherry and Tama Mirza will also appear with special stage performances.
Speaking about the event, Pritom Hasan said performing for a large Bangladeshi diaspora audience is always meaningful, adding that such concerts allow artists to connect directly with emotions tied to home and celebration.
Xefer said Eid becomes especially significant for those living away from their families, noting that sharing that festive feeling with audiences abroad is a privilege.
Protic Hasan said performing Bangladeshi music overseas helps reduce distance between expatriates and their culture, adding that such events broaden the reach of local music.
Puja Cherry said overseas audiences show a unique level of appreciation for Bangladeshi performers, calling it an inspiring experience. Tama Mirza also said participation in the event is a matter of pride, adding that such initiatives strengthen bonds among communities abroad.
The event will be hosted by Rafsan Sabab and Tabassum Priyanka. Their segments will include stage games, audience interaction, celebrity chats, quiz sessions and surprise performances.
A special DJ set by DJ Avila is also scheduled, featuring a mix of electronic music, Bangla fusion, Bollywood remixes and international tracks.
Organisers said the concert is not only an entertainment programme but also a cultural gathering for expatriate Bangladeshis. They added that there are plans to expand the initiative internationally in the future as a recurring cultural event.
Ntv is serving as the media partner, with plans for post-Eid broadcast coverage for audiences unable to attend in person.
