Sonali Bank to collect NGO fees through digital gateway

Sonali Bank PLC will now collect all types of fees and charges from NGOs through its Sonali Payment Gateway, aiming to streamline payments and improve transparency in the sector.

According to a press release from Sonali Bank PLC, the agreement was made with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) on Monday.

The digital platform will allow NGOs to make payments efficiently without physical transactions, reducing delays and simplifying financial management. Officials said it will also enable better tracking of funds and enhance accountability for both the government and NGOs.

Sonali Bank Managing Director & CEO Md Shawkat Ali Khan and NGO Affairs Bureau Director General (Additional Secretary) Md Daud Miah signed the agreement on Monday. Sonali Bank Deputy Managing Director Md Rafiqul Islam and General Manager Aklima Islam were present.

From NGOAB, Director (Joint Secretary) Md Anwar Hossain and Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited Managing Director (Joint Secretary) Md Tawfiq Al Mahmud attended. Representatives of the UNDP and the Australian High Commission also joined the event.

The new system is expected to benefit hundreds of NGOs nationwide by providing a faster, safer, and fully digital payment process.
