Police recovered six unexploded sound grenades from inside the boundary near the main gate of the Supreme Court in the capital on Sunday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman said the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) division later safely defused the grenades.
According to Shahbagh Police Station sources, the devices were found around 12:30pm on the right side inside the boundary of the court’s main gate.
Cleaning workers of the High Court first spotted the six bomb-like objects lying abandoned while carrying out routine cleaning in the area.
A team from Shahbagh Police Station rushed to the scene after receiving information and recovered the objects.
Police later confirmed the devices were sound grenades and informed the CTTC Bomb Disposal Unit.
The grenades were taken to Suhrawardy Udyan where they were safely defused following necessary security procedures, police said.
