Shwapno, one of Bangladesh’s largest retail chains, has launched a nationwide mango distribution campaign aimed at sharing seasonal produce with underprivileged communities, beginning with a special “Shwapno Mango Festival” at TNT Field in Mohakhali on Wednesday.

The initiative involves the distribution of fresh mangoes among people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Dhaka and several other cities, as the retailer seeks to expand access to seasonal fruits while strengthening engagement with communities and farmers.

At the Mohakhali event, participants gathered to receive ripe mangoes and take part in activities organised around the festival. According to the company, volunteers and organisers engaged directly with attendees throughout the day, creating what it described as a festive and community-focused environment.

The programme is part of a broader campaign being conducted simultaneously in multiple locations across the country.

In Dhaka, mango distribution activities are also taking place at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi, Mirpur-1 and Rajabari Chourasta in Turag, Uttara. Outside the capital, the initiative is being carried out in Chattogram, Khulna and Sylhet.

Md Mahadi Faisal, deputy director (Category Growth & ESG) of Shwapno, said in a press statement that the company believes access to safe and quality food should be shared more broadly.

He said Shwapno has worked closely with farmers for years, sourcing fruits and vegetables directly from them and supplying those products to customers through its retail network.

“This mango season, we wanted to extend that joy beyond our stores and share it with people who may not always have the opportunity to enjoy such seasonal treats,” Faisal said.

He added that the mangoes distributed under the campaign were collected directly from farmers and that the initiative aims to create meaningful moments for communities while strengthening relationships among farmers, customers and the wider public.

According to the company, the campaign reflects its ongoing efforts to support communities and make seasonal produce more accessible across different parts of Bangladesh.

Shwapno said the Mango Festival combines community outreach with its broader commitment to connecting farmers with consumers through an organised supply chain while promoting greater access to fresh agricultural products.
