Players from several Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) teams rushed to a Sylhet hospital on Saturday after Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki suffered a sudden collapse at the stadium and later passed away from a heart attack shortly before a match.
Cricketers from Sylhet Titans, Noakhali Express and Chattogram Royals were among those who went to Al Haramain Hospital as news of the incident spread. Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Sumon Khan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were seen at the hospital.
Zaki collapsed near the dressing room around 20 minutes before Dhaka Capitals’ opening match against Rajshahi Warriors. Immediate CPR was administered by team staff before he was rushed to hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.
The tragic incident sent shockwaves through the BPL, leaving players, officials and spectators across the league deeply shaken.
