The Department of Fashion Design and Technology (FDT) of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) organised the Graduation Fashion Show for its 44th Batch on Saturday at the BGMEA Complex Auditorium in Uttara, Dhaka.
Held under the theme “Every Stitch Tells Our Story,” the programme commenced at 3:30pm to showcase the technical expertise and contemporary fashion vision of graduating students. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Md Shah-i-Alam, Vice-Chancellor of SMUCT. Professor Md Lutfor Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the National University, attended as the Chief Guest, while Md Saiful Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), served as the Special Guest.
Other distinguished attendees included eminent artist Professor Mostafizul Haque, Chairman of the SMUCT Board of Trustees, and renowned designer and researcher Chandrasekhar Saha. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Shishir Bhattacharya, Dean of the Faculty of Design and Technology, in the presence of Faculty of Design and Technology (FDT) Department Head Afroza Haque Daisy and various industry leaders.

The runway featured five distinctive themed collections: The Urban Grace (Smart Casual), Threads of Heritage (Traditional Wear), Street Symphony (Streetwear), Moonlit Elegance (Evening Wear), and Eternal Bloom (Festive and Bridal-inspired Wear). Each collection fused modern design concepts with Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage.
Beyond the creative displays, the event included introductions of the young designers and recognition of partner organisations. Senior department representatives stated that the show reflects SMUCT’s commitment to excellence in design education and industry-academia collaboration.
The active participation of leading entrepreneurs and textile executives further highlighted the event’s significance as a platform for students to demonstrate their professional potential before embarking on their careers.
