Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detectives Branch (DB) have arrested seven alleged drug traders with 450 grams of cocaine in separate drives in Gulshan and Mohammadpur.
According to a press release, the arrestees are Md Milon Molla, 40; Md Mehedi Hasan, alias Samrat, 26; Md Tarikul Islam, 32; Md Fahim Ashraf, 35; Md Rakib Hossain, 45; Md Shahidul Islam, 55; and Md Awal Talukdar, 48.
According to the DB Lalbagh Division, acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a drive in front of DNCC Market in Gulshan-2 under Gulshan Police Station around 5:10pm on Sunday.
The team arrested four suspects—Milon, Mehedi, Tarikul and Fahim—with 100 grams of cocaine.
Based on information obtained from them, another drive was carried out around midnight the same day on Salimullah Road under Mohammadpur Police Station.
Police arrested Rakib, Shahidul and Awal with 350 grams of cocaine.
Police said the detainees are professional drug traders. They collected cocaine from different parts of the country and supplied it in Gulshan and other areas of Dhaka city.
A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act with Gulshan Police Station. The accused have been sent to court.
