Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud has invited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia, while also expressing his desire to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
The invitation was extended to the prime minister during a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Zafer H bin Abiyah on Monday morning.
While briefing reporters at the foreign ministry after the meeting, Prime Minister’s Adviser Humayun Kabir said Tarique had accepted the invitation.
He said, “We are very positive about building a strategic cooperation and partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Kabir said stronger engagement with Saudi Arabia would further deepen bilateral diplomatic relations and expand trade and investment between the two countries.
Describing the exchange of invitations as a “significant moment” in bilateral ties, the adviser said both countries are committed to taking their relationship to “new heights.”
He also termed the development a major diplomatic achievement for Bangladesh’s new government within its first four months in office.
