Bangladeshi-origin American musician and music director Sanjoy Deb is set to perform in Dhaka ahead of the FIFA World Cup final after drawing international attention with his appearance at the opening ceremony of this edition of the tournament during its Canada leg.
Sanjoy earned widespread acclaim for proudly representing his Bangladeshi heritage on the global stage. His maroon suit, featuring motifs of the Royal Bengal Tiger, the water lily and the red-and-green colours of the Bangladeshi flag, became a talking point among audiences around the world.
The Los Angeles-based EDM producer and DJ will perform on 19 July at Fan Fest 2.0, a six-day celebration at Kamal Ataturk Park in Banani marking the FIFA World Cup semi-finals and final.
The festival will offer live screenings of the matches alongside concerts, DJ performances and a range of interactive entertainment activities. Organiser Triple Time Communications said the event aims to create a vibrant atmosphere for football fans during the closing stages of the tournament.
The festival opens today (14 July) with the first semi-final between France and Spain. Firoze Jong and DJ Sumon will perform for the audience.
The second semi-final, featuring England and Argentina, will take place on 15 July, with performances by Black Zang and DJ Tonmoy.
Singer Tasnim Anika and DJ Prionty will perform on 16 July. Mila Islam, DJ Rishad and DJ Trisha will take the stage on 17 July.
DJ Sunny will perform on 18 July. The festival will conclude on 19 July with Sanjoy’s much-anticipated performance ahead of the World Cup final, alongside DJ Jadu.
Advance ticket sales have already begun through the online platform Ticket Tomorrow. Tickets for each of the first two days are priced at Tk 500, while tickets for each of the following three days cost Tk 300. Tickets for the final day are priced at Tk 700. Festival activities will begin daily from 6:00pm.
Born in Sreemangal, Bangladesh, Sanjoy was raised in the United States and is now based in Los Angeles. As an electronic dance music (EDM) producer and DJ, he has collaborated with numerous renowned artistes, including Arijit Singh, Guru Randhawa, Sunidhi Chauhan, Jonita Gandhi, Benny Dayal, Nora Fatehi, Kona, Habib Wahid and Xefer, among others.
