Legend of Rupganj have changed their decision and will now play in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League season.
The club had earlier planned to skip the league. But that position changed after a meeting with Youth and Sports Adviser Aminul Haque and new BCB president Tamim Iqbal in Mirpur on Thursday.
The update came from BCB councillor and organiser Lutfur Rahman Badal, who represents the club. He said talks with top officials helped the club decide to return.
“I was called by the sports adviser and Tamim also asked me to come. I had very constructive discussions with both of them. They requested that I take part in the player transfer process and remain involved in cricket. I will honour that request, Insha’Allah,” Badal said.
Just days ago, Badal had said the club would not take part in this season. The new decision marks a quick change within 72 hours.
Badal also spoke about the future of board elections. He had earlier stepped away from the last BCB election due to claims of political issues.
“I am hopeful that a good election will be held. Since the government has come through a democratic process, we expect the same for the board election. We want a fair and healthy election in cricket,” he said.
“If the election is conducted properly, I will definitely take part,” he added.
