Legendary singer Runa Laila is set to perform at two special concerts in Australia as part of the celebrations marking 62 years of her musical career.
The acclaimed artiste will return to Australian audiences after nearly a decade and will also make her first-ever stage appearance in Melbourne.
The celebrations will begin on 1 August with a concert titled Bangladesh Night at the Norwest Convention Centre in Sydney.
Runa Laila will perform alongside Bengal Symphony, while singer Pintu Ghosh will also take the stage.
The second concert, titled Runa Laila and Bengal Symphony Legacy Tour, will be held on 8 August at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
In a video message, Runa Laila expressed her excitement about reconnecting with her fans in Australia.
“I am coming to Australia after many years to sing for you. I will perform in Sydney on 1 August and in Melbourne on 8 August. I look forward to meeting you all again, singing many songs and spending time with you.”
According to organisers, the celebrated singer is scheduled to leave for Sydney on 29 July, accompanied by a team of seven musicians.
Earlier this month, on 24 July, Runa Laila captivated audiences with her first-ever solo concert at the National Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.
Building on the success of that performance, she is now preparing to present a selection of her most beloved songs to Bangla-speaking audiences in Australia, celebrating a remarkable career that has spanned more than six decades.
