The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, three-time elected former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, recalling her role in shaping democratic stability that supported business confidence and private sector growth.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, REHAB said Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at 6:00am, marking the end of an era in Bangladesh’s political and economic history.
REHAB leaders said her contribution to the movement for the restoration of democracy would remain a defining chapter of the country’s history, particularly at a time when political stability was critical for investment, entrepreneurship and long-term development.
They said she was a leader who showed resolve during periods of national crisis, providing firm leadership without compromise, which helped create an environment where businesses and professionals could continue to operate amid uncertainty.
According to the association, members of the business community, including real estate developers, repeatedly found her standing beside them during difficult phases, reflecting the broad acceptance of her leadership across sectors.
REHAB also offered prayers for the forgiveness of her departed soul and expressed hope that her legacy of political courage and democratic values would continue to inspire future generations.
