Eight children died with measles‑like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am Saturday, raising the country’s tally of confirmed and suspected measles‑related deaths this year to 902.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said all eight latest fatalities were classified as suspected measles deaths.
With this, suspected measles deaths have climbed to 803, while confirmed deaths remain at 99.
During the same period, 728 new suspected measles cases were reported, bringing the nationwide total to 141,776.
Meanwhile, 70 new confirmed cases were recorded, raising the number of laboratory‑confirmed infections to 17,800.
Since 15 March, a total of 123,494 suspected measles patients have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 119,089 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
