Qatar is set to launch a 10-year residency scheme specifically for entrepreneurs and senior executives, according to an announcement made by the country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Sunday.
This move aligns with recent strategies implemented by neighbouring countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which have introduced long-term residency options to attract global investors and highly skilled professionals.
In addition to the residency programme, the prime minister revealed that the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) will bolster its venture capital efforts with a $2 billion expansion, reports Khaleej Times.
This funding will enhance the “Fund of Funds” initiative – currently valued at $1 billion – which was established to draw venture capital firms to Qatar.
These strategic developments aim to cultivate a more robust entrepreneurial environment and assist the nation in diversifying its economy away from its traditional reliance on gas revenues.
