Presidency University welcomed its new batch of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) students on Sunday at the Freshers Reception & Orientation 2025, held at the Elite Convention Hall in Gulshan 1.

The event introduced freshers to the university’s academic environment, values, and opportunities through an orientation programme attended by faculty, distinguished guests, and industry professionals, according to a media statement.

Distinguished Professor Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad, a pioneer of programming contests in Bangladesh, delivered the keynote orientation speech, while Dr. Md. Anwarul Kabir, principal adviser of the university, attended as the chief guest.

Prof Dr Shahidul Islam Khan, Dean of the School of Engineering and Head of the Department of CSE, chaired the event.

Beginning at 3pm, speakers highlighted the department’s commitment to preparing graduates for fast-changing technological demands. Freshers were briefed on academic procedures, departmental facilities, laboratory resources, and opportunities in research, competitions, and industry collaboration.

The programme also showcased the achievements of current students and alumni, reinforcing the department’s strong academic track record. Speakers encouraged newcomers to remain curious, collaborative, and resilient as they begin their university journey.

The event wrapped up with an interactive session and a cultural performance by students and alumni. The CSE department said it will continue expanding its initiatives to develop skilled graduates capable of contributing to Bangladesh’s growing technology sector.
