Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with the families of martyrs and injured fighters of the July movement in the National Parliament on Sunday.
The meeting took place at 6:04pm in the Meghna Gallery during the Maghrib prayer break.
According to reports, 53 members of the “July warriors” and martyr families were present in the gallery during the session.
During the interaction, the PM exchanged greetings with the attendees. Many of the “July warriors” became emotional and broke down in tears while speaking with him. In a gesture of consolation, the Tarique Rahman was seen placing his hand on their shoulders to comfort them.
This meeting followed a period of significant unrest on the House floor.
Earlier, intense debates, shouting, and chaos erupted between members of the government and the opposition during a point of order, causing tension to spread through the chamber for some time.
The situation was further complicated by a technical failure. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was forced to address the House using a hand microphone, stating that the speeches could not be heard due to a malfunction in the sound system.
Consequently, the Speaker announced a 40-minute adjournment of the session. The recess was divided into 20 minutes for prayers and a further 20 minutes to address the technical issues with the microphones.
