Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Thursday evening, marking the Independence and National Day.
The Prime Minister arrived at Bangabhaban at around 6:10pm, accompanied by his daughter Zaima Rahman.
President Shahabuddin was joined by his wife, Professor Rebecca Sultana.
Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atikur Rahman confirmed the meeting, stating that the Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with the president during the visit.
This was their first meeting at Bangabhaban since Tarique Rahman assumed office earlier this year.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister inaugurated an Independence Day friendly football match at the National Stadium and watched the game before proceeding to Bangabhaban.
Tarique Rahman took oath as prime minister on 17 February at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building, where the oath was administered by President Shahabuddin.
Earlier, both the president and the prime minister paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Memorial at 5:56am.
