Pearson Edexcel, in partnership with the British Council, has recognised 736 high-performing Bangladeshi students at the 12th Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards (OPLA), celebrating exceptional results in International Primary, International Lower Secondary, International GCSE and International A Level examinations, according to a press release.
The ceremony took place at the Hall of Fame of the Bangladesh–China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Pearson School Qualifications director Kathryn Booth attended the event as chief guest, while British Council exams director Bangladesh Maxim Raimann and British High Commission Bangladesh director of trade and investment Sakib Ershad were present as special guests.
Of the awardees, 24 students achieved World Highest marks, four received Asia Highest awards and 41 topped Bangladesh. The recognised group included 21 International Primary, one International Lower Secondary, 456 International GCSE and 183 International A Level students.
Speakers congratulated the recipients and thanked teachers and parents for their support. Booth said the achievements reflected the talent and dedication of Bangladesh’s students. She urged learners to remain curious, think critically and develop transferable skills as they move to the next stage of life.
British Council exams director Bangladesh Raimann said education connects generations and builds mutual understanding, adding that students should carry forward the spirit of curiosity and adaptability.
Pearson Bangladesh representatives Abdullah Al Mamun Liton and Jannatul Ferdous Sigma said Pearson Edexcel qualifications continue to open pathways for Bangladeshi students at leading global universities. They said the awards have honoured more than 8,000 achievers since 2012.
