The 13th Parliament goes into session Thursday after a 43‑day recess. The third session of the current Parliament, elected on 12 February, will begin around 3pm.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni said Wednesday that forming standing committees and passing key bills will be the top priorities. He noted the session may run five to 10 days, with the duration extended if needed.
Around six bills are expected to be tabled, including proposed laws on property transfers, enforced disappearances and human rights protection.
President summoned the session on August 11 under Article 72(1) of the Constitution.
The second (budget) session ended July 15 after 27 working days. During that session, Parliament passed a Tk 9,38,000 crore national budget for 2026‑27 — the first under the BNP government — along with 11 bills.
Eleven committees were also formed, including a Special Committee for Constitutional Amendment and nine standing committees.
The first session of the 13th Parliament began on March 12, 2026.
