Pakistan fought back well in the first session on Tuesday after Bangladesh set a huge 437-run target in the Sylhet Test.
Bangladesh made an early breakthrough through Nahid Rana. The pacer bowled Abdullah Fazal with a sharp back of a length delivery. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took a superb catch at gully to end the innings. Fazal scored six.
Miraz then struck with the ball himself. The off-spinner trapped young opener Azan Awais lbw after he made 21.
Pakistan were in trouble early, but captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam handled the pressure well. The experienced pair rebuilt the innings with a steady partnership.
Shan looked confident from the start and remained unbeaten on 41 at lunch. Babar also stayed firm on 24 not out as Pakistan reached 101 for 2 at the end of the first session on day four.
Bangladesh still hold the advantage in the match, but Pakistan’s senior batters showed strong resistance at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
