Bangladeshi rock band Aurthohin , led by founder and vocalist-bassist Sumon, will perform at the Flushing Hindu Temple in New York on November 30 as part of their North America tour. The event is presented by Utsab Group and organised by Music Bangla Boston, with support from Event USA Entertainment, ASA, Pink Noise among other partners.
The organisers announced the concert during a press briefing, noting that this will be Aurthohin and Sumon’s first-ever performance at the historic New York temple. The band has already performed across several US states, including Boston, Michigan, Louisiana, Dallas, Indiana and Virginia, and will conclude their tour in San Diego on December 14 before returning to Bangladesh.
Aurthohin, formed in 1998, has long been regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most influential rock bands. Since releasing their debut album ‘Trimatrik’ in 2000, they have produced eight albums, all of which achieved strong sales and a lasting fan following. Their most recent release, ‘Phoenixer Diary’, was released in 2023. Originally rooted in rock, the band now incorporates heavy metal into their sound.
Sumon’s journey to establishing Aurthohin began in the early 1990s after leaving the renowned band ‘Feelings’. His early solo work and collaborations eventually led to the formation of Aurthohin in 1998, with several musicians contributing to the band’s evolving lineup and musical direction.
Organisers describe this concert as a significant moment for the Bangladeshi diaspora community in North America.
