One child died with symptoms like measles in the 24 hours till 8am on Friday, taking the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 780, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest death has been categorised by the DGHS as a suspected measles fatality.
With the new addition, suspected measles deaths in the country have increased to 685, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remain at 95.
During the same period, 873 new suspected measles cases were reported, raising the total number of suspected cases nationwide to 1,16,011.
The health authorities also recorded 140 new laboratory-confirmed infections, bringing the total number of confirmed measles cases to 14,244.
DGHS data showed that since 15 March, a total of 98,600 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of them, 95,031 patients have recovered.
