Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin has said fuel oil prices in Bangladesh remain well controlled compared to many other countries around the world.
He said, “There were some challenges at the initial stage. However, the government held discussions with local and foreign stakeholders. It engaged in international negotiations and discussions and explored alternative sources. At present, we are in a much better position in the energy sector compared to many other countries.”
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Wednesday morning after discussion with various donor agencies titled “The Law Compass Dialogue” at the annex auditorium of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.
The event was organised by the Institute of Strategy and Tactics Research (ISTR).
The advisor said, “Compared to any other country, fuel prices in our country remain under considerable control. We have maintained stable supply according to demand. Despite many global challenges, we will turn every challenge into an opportunity and move the country forward.”
He added, “Through the 13th National Parliament election, a government has come to power whose authority is rooted in the people of the country. We believe that if Bangladesh is to move forward, the state must be governed in line with the aspirations and expectations of the people.”
Mentioning that the country’s law and order situation remains stable, Mahdi Amin said, “People’s lives are changing. In health, education, agriculture and infrastructure, commitments have been fulfilled accordingly. In the Bangladesh we envision for the future, we want mutual harmony and coexistence. We want politics where there is no misinformation. Misinformation is bad politics and it should not become part of political culture.”
