Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has moved court against Sri Lanka Cricket over a No Objection Certificate issue.
He filed the case in the Colombo District Court. He wants the board to allow him to play in the 2026 Indian Premier League. The court has set April 9 for the next hearing.
Thushara said he was picked by Royal Challengers for the new IPL season. He had played in the league in 2024 and 2025 after getting NOCs from the board.
This time, Sri Lanka Cricket did not give him the NOC. The board said he did not meet the fitness standard.
Thushara said his contract with the board ended on March 31. He had already told them he would not renew it. He also plans to step away from international cricket.
He said he was not in the plans for national selection. So he feels the fitness reason is not fair.
He added that his fitness level is the same as before. He said the board had given him NOCs in the past with the same level.
He told the court that he may lose his IPL spot if he does not get the NOC. He said this could lead to a big loss of money and harm his career.
Thushara has asked the court to direct Sri Lanka Cricket to issue the NOC. He also wants to be allowed to play in other overseas leagues.
The case will be heard again on April 9.
