Fakhar Zaman has decided to fight back after being banned for two matches by the Pakistan Cricket Board in a ball tampering case during the Pakistan Super League.
The left hand batter has filed an appeal against the punishment. Pakistani outlet Geo News reported the update citing sources. His team Lahore Qalandars also stood by him. The franchise said the claim against Fakhar is not true.
The issue came up during Lahore’s match against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. Karachi chased 131 runs and won by three wickets with four balls left.
Late in the game, Lahore were given a five run penalty for ball tampering. Fakhar was named in the charge. He denied it and asked for the matter to go to the disciplinary committee.
Match referee Roshan Mahanama then gave him a two match ban. Bangladesh umpire Sharfuddoula Saikat was one of the on field umpires during the moment.
Two Bangladesh players are in the Lahore squad. Mustafizur Rahman and Parvez Hossain Emon both played the first two games. Mustafizur took two wickets for 39 runs in eight overs and bowled 18 dot balls. Emon batted at number four in both matches and scored 26 runs.
Lahore Qalandars have one win and one loss from two matches. They have two points and are fourth on the table. Eight teams are playing in the league. Lahore will face Multan Sultans in their next match.
