As part of the government’s ‘Learning with Happiness’ commitment to develop hidden talents and provide healthy entertainment opportunities for students of colleges affiliated with the National University, the ‘Inter-College Cultural, Debate and Sports Competition 2026’ is set to begin nationwide.
Online registration for cultural and debate competitions started on 12 July and will continue until 30 July 2026. Meanwhile, registration for teacher representatives accompanying students in the divisional-level sports competitions began on 9 July and will also continue until 30 July.
Regular students studying in undergraduate (pass and honours) and postgraduate programmes at colleges affiliated with the National University will be eligible to participate in the nationwide competition. Interested participants have been asked to contact their respective college authorities. The colleges will complete student information entry by logging into the designated online portal of the National University.
The fixtures for the competition will be prepared between 1 and 6 August. District-level competitions will then be held from 7 August to 12 September. Dates for divisional and final-level competitions, along with prize-giving ceremonies, will be announced later.
The events include solo categories such as patriotic songs, Nazrul Sangeet, Rabindra Sangeet, modern songs, folk songs, recitation, acting, dance and impromptu speech. Team events include mass songs, creative group dance and debate.
The district-level sports competitions have already been completed successfully. The divisional-level sports competitions featuring district-level winners will be held from 23 August to 10 October 2026.
Athletics events include the 100-metre sprint, 200-metre sprint, 400-metre sprint, 800-metre race, 5,000-metre race, 4×100-metre relay, 4×800-metre relay, 100/110-metre hurdles, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, high jump, triple jump, hammer throw and pole vault.
Team events include chess (four-member teams), swimming (eight-member teams), basketball (12-member teams), cricket (16-member teams), carrom (four-member teams), handball (12-member teams), hockey (16-member teams), badminton (four-member teams), karate (12-member teams), football (16-member teams), table tennis (four-member teams) and volleyball (12-member teams).
The schedule for the final phase of the sports competition and the date of the prize-giving ceremony will be announced later. Detailed information about the competition will be available on the official website of the National University.
