The Bangladesh Football Federation moved Bangladesh Football League fixtures forward by one day this week to accommodate the launch of the Notun Kuri Sports initiative on 2 May, with matches across the country rescheduled following requests from district authorities.
The government will launch the nationwide programme at Sylhet District Stadium on 2 May, with activities planned simultaneously at district venues. The initiative aims to identify grassroots talent and involve youth in organised sport, which required stadium availability across multiple locations.
District administrations in Cumilla, Gazipur and Munshiganj requested schedule adjustments to ensure smooth organisation of the opening event. The Professional League Committee responded by shifting fixtures originally set for 1 and 2 May to 30 April and 1 May.
The change has forced clubs to adjust logistics at short notice. Dhaka Mohammedan, who were due to face Bashundhara Kings in Cumilla on 1 May, began travel arrangements immediately after receiving verbal confirmation of the change.
Other clubs have also revised preparation plans in line with the updated schedule. The compressed timeline reduces recovery and travel windows, which could affect squad management across fixtures.
The Bangladesh Football Federation has kept the Federation Cup schedule unchanged despite the league adjustment. This decision separates domestic competitions operationally and avoids further disruption to an already fixed knockout structure.
