Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi is set to appear before a Delhi court as a prosecution witness in the Rs200 crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
According to The Times of India, the Rouse Avenue Court has directed Fatehi to testify on 2 November. She is listed as witness LW-3 in the third supplementary chargesheet.
The case centres on allegations that Chandrasekhar extorted around Rs200 crore from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, between 2020 and 2021.
Investigators allege that he impersonated senior government officials while lodged in Delhi’s Rohini Jail and promised to secure her husband’s release in exchange for money.
Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing questioned Fatehi over her alleged association with Chandrasekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose.
Her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC before police named her as a prosecution witness.
Fatehi told investigators that she interacted with Chandrasekhar through his wife. She was also questioned about an event she attended in Chennai in December 2020.
