Actor Noah Wyle has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2026, adding another milestone to a career spanning more than three decades in television medicine dramas.

According to People, the The Pitt star was stunned by the news, initially suspecting a prank. “Just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honour bestowed on me,” he said, joking that friends and family would give him plenty of teasing.

Wyle first rose to fame as Dr John Carter in NBC’s ER, earning three Golden Globe and five Emmy nominations.

He later returned to hospital drama as Dr Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in HBO’s The Pitt, winning a Golden Globe in 2026 and consecutive Emmy awards in 2025 and 2026. The show’s third season is due in January 2027.

Wyle succeeds Wicked star Jonathan Bailey, the first openly gay man to receive the title. Launched in 1985, the annual feature has also honoured Patrick Dempsey, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Michael B Jordan, John Legend and Idris Elba.
