Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected US calls for concessions in negotiations to end the war, declaring that “no one can make us surrender.”
He added that members of the Shia faith “cannot be coerced by force.”
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said he had spoken with Iraq’s prime minister and urged Washington to withdraw military threats from the Middle East.
His remarks came as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard outlined a new security plan for the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at blocking weapons and supplies bound for US bases in the region, a key sticking point in talks between Tehran and Washington.
Hours later, US President Donald Trump announced that the US operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, known as Project Freedom, had been paused “to allow negotiations to advance.”
