The National Implementation Committee for Administrative Restructuring (NICAR) on Tuesday approved 11 administrative restructuring proposals at its 119th meeting, the first such session under the interim government.
The meeting, presided over by the Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, at his official residence Jamuna, was attended by six advisers, including those overseeing the finance and law ministries, alongside the cabinet secretary, the principal secretary, and 14 secretaries and senior secretaries.
To bolster transparency, accountability, and dynamism in the government’s revenue collection management, the committee approved the formation of two new administrative divisions under the Ministry of Finance: the ‘Revenue Policy Division’ and the ‘Revenue Management Division’. These changes follow the previous issuance of the Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance, 2025.
NICAR also approved the reconstitution of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare by merging the ‘Health Services Division’ and the ‘Health Education and Family Welfare Division’.
In addition, a proposal was approved to change the Bangla name of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to the ‘Nari O Shishu Mantranalay’ from Mohila O Shishu Bishayak Mantranaloy. However, the English name of the ministry-Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA)-will remain unchanged.
Considering its global environmental heritage, tourism, and economic potential, Satkhira has been upgraded from a Category ‘B’ district to a Category ‘A’ district.
The meeting also sanctioned the establishment of three new police stations: Purbachal North in Gazipur district, Purbachal South in Narayanganj district, and Matarbari in Cox’s Bazar district.
Furthermore, the committee approved the creation of another new police station by splitting the existing Raipura station in Narsingdi district.
In a final administrative adjustment, the committee approved a spelling correction for the ‘Bhulli’ police station located in Thakurgaon district.
