Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has announced his 26 player squad for the 2026 World Cup. The biggest news is the return of Manuel Neuer, who comes back to the national team after stepping away from international football following Euro 2024.
Nagelsmann confirmed that Neuer will be Germany’s first choice goalkeeper. He said experience played a major role in the decision. Neuer enjoyed a strong season with Bayern Munich and recently signed a new contract despite dealing with injuries.
“My focus is on nominating the best three goalkeepers in the country and they are the best three,” Nagelsmann said.
The squad also includes several young and exciting players. Bayern Munich teenager Lennart Karl earned a place after impressing this season. Felix Nmecha also returned after recovering from injury.
Nadiem Amiri made the final squad and Leroy Sane also secured his place. Jamal Musiala returned despite missing recent Germany matches because of injury.
Some well known names did not make the final list. Niclas Fullkrug, Tom Bischof, Said El Mala, Chris Fuhrich and Maxi Mittelstadt missed out.
Germany will now begin preparations before flying to the United States for the tournament.
