Authorities seized a total of 13,980 litres of diesel and sentenced two individuals to jail in separate mobile court drives conducted in Narayanganj on Tuesday night.
In the first operation, carried out around 6pm in Godnail area of Siddhirganj, officials raided a spot near an Eidgah adjacent to the Meghna Depot based on a tip-off.
During the drive, 9,100 litres of diesel were recovered. The accused, Sifat, was fined Tk6,000 and sentenced to two months’ simple imprisonment for illegal storage.
In a separate drive in the same area, authorities raided a house on SA Road near the Meghna Depot and seized 4,880 litres of diesel.
The accused, Nasir, was fined Tk3,000 and sentenced to one month’s simple imprisonment.
The drives were conducted based on intelligence information, according to the Information and Public Relations wing.
