National Citizen Party (NCP) Northern Organiser Sarjis Alam announced that the party plans to nominate capable candidates in every constituency for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Speaking at a district organizational coordination meeting in Mymensingh on Tuesday, Alam criticised the Election Commission, stating that it cannot ensure free, fair, and impartial elections if it denies any party its chosen symbol.

“No election under such a commission can be considered credible in Bangladesh,” he said, reports UNB.

Alam stressed the importance of strengthening the party’s organisational structure at all levels, from districts to wards, instead of relying on monetary influence for nominations. “NCP will field candidates who are capable of winning every constituency through the dedication of our leaders and activists,” he added.

He also highlighted the party’s commitment to youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and anti-corruption initiatives to build a better future for Bangladesh.

Alam expressed confidence that NCP would play a crucial role in creating a stable and balanced parliament, advocating for reform and justice even after the elections.

On the issue of the ‘water lily’ election symbol, Alam insisted that the Election Commission must grant the symbol to NCP, as there are no legal barriers to its use. He further stated that the party would contest the elections under the symbol and would challenge any arbitrary or unlawful actions by the commission.

He clarified that NCP intends to contest the elections nationwide, not just in a few seats, and remains open to alliances with parties committed to people-driven change.

The meeting was presided over by NCP Mymensingh District Chief Coordinator Advocate Javed Rasin, with senior party leaders including Divisional Organisational Secretary Ashiqun Alam, Northern Organiser Pritam Sohag, and Central Member Fahim Rahman Khan Pathan in attendance.
