A leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) has been arrested by Detective Branch (DB) police for posting objectionable content about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Facebook.
The arrest was made Wednesday morning following a case filed by a Bogura BNP leader over the post.
Gazi Salauddin Tanvir, joint member secretary of NCP, was served a show‑cause notice and temporarily relieved of his party position due to the controversial post.
He will be produced before a Bogura court later in the day, police said.
This is not the first time he has faced disciplinary action. On 21 April 2025, he was suspended from the NCP after allegations of irregularities in government job recruitment and commission‑based dealings in textbook printing paper. He was later reinstated to the party.
