The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has invited proposals and recommendations from stakeholders for the upcoming national budget for fiscal year 2026-27.
In a notice issued on Monday, the revenue authority said it regularly consults trade bodies, professional organisations and other stakeholders ahead of the national budget to gather opinions on customs, value-added tax and income tax-related matters.
The NBR said that, in addition to domestic revenue considerations, Bangladesh’s commitments under the World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement and the country’s ongoing least developed country graduation process have made the upcoming budget particularly significant.
In this context, the board stressed the importance of aligning fiscal measures with international obligations and future trade competitiveness.
For the 2026-27 budget, the NBR requested specific proposals on customs duties, value-added tax, income tax, regulatory duties, supplementary duties and other relevant fiscal issues.
Stakeholders have been asked to provide clear and well-structured recommendations, along with justifications.
The revenue authority instructed that proposals be submitted in both hard and soft copies by 10 March 2026.
Soft copies must be sent in Nikosh format to the designated email address [email protected], it said.
The NBR said the consultations aim to make the budget more business-friendly, transparent and supportive of economic growth while ensuring revenue mobilisation targets are met.
